Day 2

Hey everyone in Singapore! Singapore Cadets, VIs, YOs and officers are doing fine at Batam! Having difficulty in acquiring internet connection so we didn't manage to blog yesterday. Photos will hopefully be uploaded soon!!

Just a tinge of life here:

Everyone's mingling a lot with our new friends from various provinces of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and 2 great guys from Germany! Sleeping in huge white refugee tents (yes we spent one whole afternoon trying to build them using our OA skills! 1st time trying to pitch those tents :D)

Food's not bad, and we have to wash our own dishes using old style (dip in bucket of soap and rinse in bucket of water...eww)

Weather on and off, most of the time drizzling. Oh but most of the 700 campers were impressed by our RC uniform which we wore at the opening ceremony this morning. Everyone wanted to take a photo with us (famous we!)

The afternoon has been awesome with volleyball and soccer, esp when we were playing with all our newfound international friends. Language is definitely a challenge, but thanks to some of our Malay-speaking cadets, YOs and VIs, we were able to understand the rules and planned strategies with everyone to play awesome games! Ah and not forget sharing beach games with them as well!

Overall, camp has been really awesome so far, despite the weird weather. Looking forward to the asian cultural performance later, and of course sharing the photos with all of you!!

See ya reeeeaaal sooooon!!!!!!
